Colonel Sam Tate was remembered in the Pickens Progress by journalist Margaret Shannon from the Atlanta Journal Constitution as having traveled to the Taj Mahal in India and returning with a snow white piece of marble that perfectly matched the marble found in the Tate quarries.

The article mentions Col. Tate's travels to the Taj Mahal in India and returning with a snow white piece of marble that matched the Tate marble.

Sam also traveled to China to see the Great Wall. He was also given the luxury of being carried like C-3PO in Return of the Jedi.
